The Cal Poly machine shops have laser engravers equipped with rotary attachments that make it easy for users to personalize their metal bottles. I took full advantage of this awesome tool during my time at Cal Poly and made some unique water bottles for myself, friends, and family.
I drew these squiggly lines as just a doodle and really liked it, so I turned it into an image that seamlessly wraps all the way around the bottle.
Over the 2023-24 season, there were only five consistent shop technicians other than myself on the Formula team who kept the shops open around the clock for everyone on the team to get the car built, tested, and rebuilt. I made these bottles for each of them with both of the season's cars and all of our most commonly used tools etched into the bottle to show my appreciation.
This was a present for my boyfriend that I made with drawings of two of his favorite things: surfing and whales!
This was my first time using the laser cutter to engrave a metal bottle, but my design successfully wrapped around the bottle like I intended, giving it a seamless look.
